When Gemmaji was in Spain, she invited an architect to the property. For now, it seems we would be able to fit 50 people indoors, with some possibility of expansion later on. Camping, of course, is plentiful, too. Benoitji is planning a sponsored bike ride this summer from Germany via Tapovan to the Open Centre…He is getting people to sponsor him (commit to pay a certain amount per kilometer) and hopes to raise 2,500 Euros for the Open Centre with the ride. What about a Rest-a-thon? Participants could get sponsors to commit to pay a certain amount per hour of rest….and then get together somewhere relaxing to rest for 24 or 48 or more hours! This could be a movement with Rest-a-thons happening in more than one place… Augusta’s “New Leaf” tree planting project has teamed up with a wonderful reforestation project in Tiruvannamalai in South India-- the group called Mountain of Medicine is reforesting large areas of the holy mountain Arunachala, with native and native-medicinal species. Anyone can donate money towards tree planting and the Open Centre via the “New Leaf” project on the Open Centre website (in the “How can you help?” section). Several fundraising gatherings are happening these days in different countries: A meeting happened on May 15 in Israel with another one planned soon for people in the North of Israel. Erika’s body-mind fundraising day in San Francisco will be in June. Dutch friends plan an India party in Utrecht this summer. And a retreat in Australia with Jess Huon (who taught with Open Dharma on the March 10-day and the April-May 35-day retreats) and yoga teacher Paul Wooden in August. The retreat will be totally on donation basis, with all proceeds for the Open Centre. So many thanks (from everyone for everyone)…Dave Adair for sending out the group emails while we were on retreat, as well as for the North American accounts and PayPal help, technical email help, and all-around wonderfulness. Many thanks to Bekaji also for making the Tshirts happen in India—available soon through the web. If anyone is going from Barcelona to the UK in the next couple of weeks, let us know…Beka needs about 100 more Tshirts sent over from Spain.
